Sculptra vs. Radiesse: which to choose for your age and skin

Sculptra and Radiesse are biostimulators: instead of just filling, they prompt your skin to produce new collagen. Both give natural, long-lasting results, but they work differently.

Sculptra: gradual and global

Sculptra (Galderma) is poly-L-lactic acid. It does not add instant volume: results appear over 4 to 8 weeks as collagen forms. It is ideal for overall laxity or diffuse volume loss and usually needs 2 to 3 sessions. It lasts up to 2 years.

Radiesse: immediate support

Radiesse (Merz) is calcium hydroxylapatite. It gives support from day one and also stimulates collagen. It works very well on cheekbones, jawline and hands. It lasts 12 to 18 months.

Which one suits me?

  • —For a gradual change across the whole face: Sculptra is usually recommended.
  • —To define specific areas such as cheekbones or jawline: Radiesse is usually recommended.
  • —In many cases they are combined within a Full Face protocol.

The final recommendation depends on your skin, structure and goal, and is made by the doctor at your free consultation.
